Clubman of the The Year

Craig Madders

This year’s Clubman of the Year is Craig Madders – a long overdue recognition for someone who has given so much to Brislington Juniors over the years. Craig brings unwavering energy and enthusiasm to everything he does for the club, constantly finding new ways to make a positive impact. While he’s perhaps best known for championing our thriving girls’ section – helping elevate it to stand proudly alongside the boys’ – his contributions go far beyond that. From behind-the-scenes support to hands-on involvement, Craig’s commitment continues to shape the club for the better.

Manager of the The Year

Steve Preston (Under 15)

Voted by his fellow managers, this year’s award goes to Steve Preston after an outstanding season at the helm of our Under 15s. Guiding his team to a remarkable treble – lifting the Avon Youth League title, the AYL Cup, and the Somerset County Cup – Steve has delivered one of the most successful campaigns Brislington Juniors has seen in years. In a season full of strong contenders, these exceptional achievements rightly stood out. Congratulations, Steve!

Fred Hardwell Shield

Chris Nash

Named in honour of our late founder, the Fred Hardwell Shield recognises those who go above and beyond for Brislington Juniors. This year’s deserved recipient is Chris Nash, manager of the U15 Colts and a loyal servant of the club. Chris has consistently stepped up to support wider club projects, always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. His steady leadership has been vital in guiding his team through several challenging seasons – and it’s fair to say that without his perseverance, they may not have made it this far. A fitting winner of this special award..

Steve Tucker Memorial (Referee award)

Gav Nott

This award, named in memory of the late Steve Tucker, recognises the standout referee from our Summer Tournament – and this year, it goes to Gavin. A Brislington Juniors player for over a decade, Gav has recently turned his attention to refereeing, officiating at various levels with great maturity and professionalism. We have high hopes for him to climb the refereeing ladder, and his progress so far has been hugely encouraging. A top lad and a credit to himself, his family, and his manager – it’s fantastic to see one of our own giving back to the game in this way. Well done, Gav!

Outstanding Young Volunteers

Izzy Sweet, Summer Evans & Sid Ewings
A huge well done to Izzy, Summer and Sid – three brilliant young volunteers who’ve gone above and beyond for Brislington Juniors. Izzy continues the proud tradition of the Sweet family’s incredible support for the club, and alongside Summer, played a key role at this year’s tournament – both showing amazing commitment and maturity during long shifts across the weekend. Sid has also been outstanding, not only stepping in to referee at the tournament, but acting as Graham’s right-hand man at Football School – especially supporting the Red Group as they transitioned to become next season’s Under 7s. All three are shining examples of the Bris Jrs spirit – thank you and well done!

Family Recognition

The Vines
A heartfelt thank you to the entire Vine family for their outstanding contribution to this year’s tournament. Sam took a leading role managing the car park alongside Jack, keeping things running smoothly throughout the weekend. Tina, as ever, was everywhere she was needed – stepping in without hesitation to help in countless ways. And youngest member Archie even dedicated a full day to refereeing, only stopped from doing more by his parents (quite rightly!) with GCSEs looming. The Vines are no strangers to giving back – their support over the past decade has been immense, and this year was no exception. Thank you all!

Family Recognition

The Owens
A massive thank you to the Owens family for their incredible efforts around this year’s tournament. Kate took on the crucial First Aid role and handled it with calm professionalism – notably during a serious incident where her insistence on calling for an ambulance, despite pressure to move the casualty by car, ensured the right outcome. We were very fortunate to have her there. Meanwhile, Paul’s behind-the-scenes work in the lead-up to the tournament was nothing short of super-human. His tireless commitment and graft in the weeks beforehand made a huge difference. Together, the Owens showed exactly what makes the Bris Jrs community so special.

Special Individual Recognition

Tammy Waite
A huge shout-out to Tammy Waite for her herculean efforts over the tournament weekend. Stationed in the sweltering BBQ section for both days, Tammy brought boundless energy and an unshakeable spirit that kept everyone going. Her hard work, positivity, and infectious enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed – a true trooper and a fantastic example of what makes Bris Jrs so special. Thank you, Tammy!
